Inauguration of the Southwest American Diocese of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church

Hundreds of faithful Orthodox Christians gathered together on
Saturday, 13 June 2009 at the University of Houston, Texas to
inaugurate the newly formed South West American Diocese.

Holy Qurbana was celebrated by His Grace Alexios Mar Eusebius,
Diocesan Metropolitan of the South West American Diocese along with His
Grace Mathews Mar Barnabas, His Grace Dr. Mathews Mar Severios and
over twenty priests, deacons and seminarians of the newly formed
Diocese.

His Grace Mathews Mar Barnabas, the Diocesan Metropolitan of the
North East American Diocese presided over the inauguration ceremonies.

Along with Their Graces, His Eminence Cardinal Dinero of the Roman
Catholic Church, Mrs. Anita Perry, the First Lady of the State of
Texas, Mayor Bill White, honorable mayor of the City of Houston,
Sanjeev Arora, Consul General of India in Houston, and various other
guests from the Orthodox Churches and political dignitaries were
present to witness this historic event.

Southwest Diocese Family and Youth Conference Begins and Inaugration of the Diocese

The conference theme is “It is Better to Trust in the Lord, than to Trust in Man” Psalms 118:8.

This year’s conference will be taking place from Wednesday, June 10th through Saturday, June 13th, 2009 at University of Houston – Central Campus, Houston, Texas.

Featured speakers and guests include: H.G. Mathews Mar Barnabas, H.G Zachariah Mar Nicholovos, H. G. Alexios Mar Eusebius, Rev. Fr. Mohan Joseph, Rev. Fr. M.K. Kuriakose, Rev. Dn. Christopher Mathew, and Seminarian Diju Skariah.

The Annual Diocesan Assembly of the Diocese of the Northeast America will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2009 at 10 AM at St. Gregorios Malankara Orthodox Church, Philadelphia.

The Vicars and the elected diocesan assembly delegates from all parishes are invited to attend this assembly at the expense of the parish. The delegates are to register before 9:45 AM.

Construction of the Metropolitan’s Residence begins

Construction of the ‘Metropolitan’s Residence’ in Muttontown has begun
today! This is a major project that our Diocese is under going.
We trust, with your continued prayers and financial support, the
Metropolitans and their staff, will be able to move into the new
Aramana before the end of this year.

This newly built Diocesan Headquarters will serve as the residence of
the Metropolitans and staff, and include offices, conference rooms,
VIP guest rooms, chapel and much more area to help the Diocese
minister and cater to the spiritual needs of our people throughout
Northeast America.

Pictures will be uploaded onto the Diocesan site has each phase continues.
