The American Diocesan Sunday School is the primary educational ministry for children from kindergarten through high school. The aim of the Sunday School is for the catechesis of young people in preparation for a fulfilling adult life in the Church.
Towards this end, the children are instructed on a Sunday to Sunday basis in the life and teachings of the Orthodox Church. In addition, the Sunday School administration runs annual Orthodox Vacation Bible School (OVBS) programs on the local level.
While the syllabus and materials of the Sunday School is centralized for the Diocese, local inspectors have been appointed for the distribution of Diocesan materials as well as for the assurance of quality Christian education.
